AZ-220: Microsoft Azure IoT Developer is a four-day intermediate-level course that builds your knowledge of creating and maintaining the cloud and edge portions of an Azure IoT solution.

During this course, you will explore the applications of Azure IoT, including the components of Azure IoT solution architecture and how Azure IoT Services relate to IoT solutions. You will create an Azure account and use the Azure portal to create IoT Hub and DPS services. You will learn about the features of IoT Hub services, including endpoints, device lifecycle, and IoT developer tools. You will look at individual and automatic enrollment of devices in the Azure Device Provisioning Service. You will learn how to configure messages, carry out events routing, and implement Azure Stream Analytics. You will implement Azure Logic Apps and Event Grid for business integration, and you will configure IoT data visualization in Time Series Insights and Power BI.

You will also discover how to carry out Azure Edge deployment, plus you will explore restricted networks and offline scenarios. You will learn how to configure IoT hub monitoring to diagnose and troubleshoot IoT device connection and communication issues. Plus, you will investigate IoT security considerations and how to develop an Azure Digital Twins (ADT) solution.

This course will prepare you for the AZ-220 certification exam. Entry for the exam is not included. However, you will get a clear overview of the Microsoft certification process and tips and tricks, testing strategies, practice questions, and useful information to help you pass the exam.

This course comprises twelve purposely designed modules that take you on a carefully defined learning journey.

It is an instructor-led course which runs to a fixed schedule, with set start and finish dates. It is driven forward by your instructor and features live sessions that are aired at a set time. You will, however, have time to complete certain activities at your own pace outside of the live sessions.

The materials for each module are accessible from the start of the course and will remain available for the duration of your enrollment. Methods of learning and assessment will include reading material, hands-on labs, and online exam questions.

As part of our mentoring service you will have access to valuable guidance and support throughout the course. We provide a dedicated discussion space where you can ask questions, chat with your peers, and resolve issues.

Once you have successfully completed the course, you will earn your Certificate of Completion.

After completing this course, you will be able to:

  • Create, configure, and manage an Azure IoT hub.
  • Provision devices by using IoT Hub and DPS, including provisioning at scale.
  • Establish secure 2-way communication between devices and IoT Hub.
  • Implement message processing by using IoT Hub routing and Azure Stream Analytics.
  • Configure the connection to Time Series Insights and support business integration requirements.
  • Implement IoT Edge scenarios using marketplace modules and various edge gateway patterns.
  • Implement IoT Edge scenarios that require developing and deploying custom modules and containers.
  • Implement device management using device twins and direct methods.
  • Implement solution monitoring, logging, and diagnostics testing.
  • Recognize and address security concerns and implement Azure Security Center for IoT.
  • Build an Azure Digital Twins solution that integrates upstream and downstream services.
  • Build an IoT Solution by using Azure IoT Central and recognize SaaS opportunities for IoT.

  • IoT developers.
  • Professionals working in the IoT domain.
  • Azure developers looking for a career in IoT.
  • Individuals preparing for the exam AZ-220 to earn Microsoft Azure IoT Developer Specialty certification.

  • Cloud Solution Awareness: Students should have experience using the Azure portal and a basic understanding of PaaS, SaaS, and IaaS implementations.
  • Software Development Experience: Software development experience is a prerequisite for this course, but no specific software language is required, and the experience does not need to be at a professional level.
  • Data Processing Experience: A general understanding of data storage and data processing is recommended but not required.

This course will help you to prepare for the AZ-220: Microsoft Azure IoT Developer certification exam.

  • You will gain the skills and knowledge required to successfully create and maintain the cloud and edge portions of an Azure IoT solution.
  • You will become familiar with core Azure IoT services such as IoT Hub, Device Provisioning Services, Asure Stream Analytics, Time Series Insights, and more.
  • You will also become familiar with IoT Edge, device management, monitoring and troubleshooting, security concerns, and Azure IoT Central.

When you take this course, you will get information and guidance on the Microsoft certification process, and useful tips on how to pass the exam. Once you have completed this course, you will be ready to take the AZ-220 certification exam to earn Microsoft Azure IoT Developer certification.
