Storytelling is a powerful presentation and leadership tool. Stories build rapport and connection in a way that facts and information do not. Using Storytelling for Powerful Presentations gives presenters and leaders the skills to create compelling presentations that attendees will remember and act upon.
After completing Using Storytelling for Powerful Presentations, you will be able to describe why it is essential to prepare before delivering speeches and presentations. You will learn how to create a foundation for giving powerful and convincing messages to make your audience interested and pay attention to what you are presenting. Concluding your presentation is another benefit you will receive from taking this course. Following the skills given in this course on how to finish your presentation, you will also be able to conduct a successful Q&A session.
This course is a four-week online course. There will be coursework you must complete on your own time. This homework will be the basis of discussion in the four instructor-led workshop events spread throughout the course during a one-month time frame. You will be able to interact with the instructor and other learners during the four workshops. You will also receive information through whiteboard sessions, polling questions, workbook reviews, assessment reviews, and other activities that the instructor will lead in a live session.
There are specific dates and times for each workshop. They will occur only once and will not be repeated, so you will need to make sure you attend the sessions when they are offered.
The first week of Using Storytelling for Powerful Presentations focuses on the technique of preparing and planning your presentation. Among the topics are identifying your audience, learning how to create metaphors you can use to convey information, and exploring humanitys amazing capacity for creativity. The second week uses the AIDA formula to hook your audiences interest. AIDA stands for attention, interest, desire, and action. You will learn how to gain your audiences attention and create a desire in your audience to address the problem. This week teaches you how to convince the audience to put into action what you are offering in your presentation. After addressing all these issues, you will start to create your presentation. The third week is when you will design your presentation. You will introduce your message to deliver your main points, consider analysis, and other details. Using this information, you will then finish your presentation. You will be taught how to effectively conclude your presentation and close with a tagline you create during this week. In the last week of the course, you will be able to share your presentation with other learners and the instructor and receive feedback from them. You will also be able to provide comments on other learners presentations.
