In this audience-participation workshop, attendees will engage in a powerful, interactive, and fun simulation that brings everyone onboard with the organizational change being implemented.

The simulation involves learning, practicing, and performing a musical arrangement, with the use of musical tubes, rhythm sticks, and woodblocks. Woven throughout the simulation are powerful learning lessons that correlate to why organizational change fails so frequently, and how to change one's mindset to get on board and see the big picture. The simulation experience provides learning lessons and understanding that cannot be achieved through the traditional methods of classes, courses, or lectures.

The format operates as follows:

  • The audience is divided into three equal sized groups.
  • Each group is given a unique instrument and musical score.
  • Groups are given time to learn, practice, and perform their individual musical score.
  • Groups perform their individual scores alone at first.
  • Scores are brought together and combined one by one.
  • Soundtracks and additional musical instruments are added to the overall musical performance.
  • As the musical arrangement is brought to full life, one instrument and group at a time, learning lessons come into sharp focus as the conductor draws correlations between learning how to perform music and successfully implementing organizational change. These correlations include observing:

  • Those who are resistant to change.
  • Those who are change leaders, champions.
  • Those who are resistant to learning about change.
  • The challenges presented through poor communication and leadership.
  • The importance of everyone's role for achieving success.

  • This face-to-face workshop can be held at a location of your choosing, subject to the following requirements:

  • Duration / Timeline – The general target for delivery of this workshop is four hours. Depending on audience size, scope of change, and client requirements, the simulation can be shortened or increased in length. The Duration / Timeline is determined in initial client consultations.
  • Class Size – 20-100 attendees (20 minimum).
  • Venue – The location of the simulation needs to be large enough to accommodate all attendees with room to stand and create arms-length distance between each other. There also needs to be sufficient space for the facilitator to move freely in front of attendees.
  • Visual – Monitors/screens are used extensively throughout the simulation to display musical scores. Monitors/screens need to be large enough for all to read the text and scores being presented.
  • Audio – Music soundtracks are combined with audience performance during the simulation. The soundtracks need to be audible above the audience musical performance. Also, given the nature of the simulation, a lot of noise is generated throughout. Consideration should be taken so that this noise will not disrupt those not involved in the simulation.
