This problem-solving course teaches you how to identify, analyze and solve the challenges encountered in your business. It is designed to sharpen your team's critical thinking skills, leverage industry leading tools, and decipher the critical problems facing your business.

During this course you will explore how to understand and evaluate a problem. You will learn how to break a problem down into smaller pieces and weigh the pros and the cons of a solution. You will discover how to avoid common mistakes people make in problem solving, including blaming others and taking a simple ‘cause and effect’ approach.

You will then learn how to develop and design a solution, which will include collaborating with other stakeholders. You will consider how to anticipate a plan B and a plan C. Plus, you will establish how to learn from mistakes and build on lessons you have learned.


This career-changing course comprises four purposely designed modules that take you on a carefully defined development path.

It is an instructor-led program which runs to a fixed schedule, with set start and finish dates. It is driven forward by your instructor and features eight hours of instructor-led workshops through Microsoft Teams. You will, however, have time to complete an additional four hours of homework assignments in your own time outside of the live sessions.

As part of our mentoring service you will have access to valuable guidance and support throughout the course. We provide a dedicated discussion space where you can ask questions, chat with your peers, and resolve issues.

Your Certificate of Completion will be issued once you have successfully finished the course.

    Problem Solving for Business Success applies to all learners. According to recent studies, one of the most highly sought-after skills employers are looking for is the ability to think critically and solve problems. Learners across the employment spectrum will find powerful learning lessons in this course, especially those new to the workplace. There are no prerequisites for this course.

    Problem Solving for Business Success is a four-week virtual online course. There will be coursework that you must complete on your own time. You will use this homework as the basis for the instructor-led workshops that are spread across the four-week course. During these live sessions, there will be interaction with the instructor and peers through various media, including whiteboard sessions, polling questions, workbook reviews, assessment reviews, and other activities.

    The workshops will be conducted on specific dates and times and will only be offered once. It is your responsibility to ensure you attend the live sessions when they are given.

    The first week of Problem Solving for Business Success introduces the major concepts. During this first week, you will learn how to evaluate a problem, break a problem down into small parts, weigh the pros and cons of a possible solution, and implement the solution. The second week focuses on avoiding the common mistakes involved when problem-solving. These mistakes include blaming people or circumstances, taking a simple cause and effect approach, or reacting versus taking deliberate action when solving problems. The following week introduces you to collaboration with others to improve problem-solving skills. You will learn that sometimes you will need to prepare multiple solutions and recognize that solutions take time. During the last week, you will explore ways of learning from making mistakes and being flexible when implementing your problem-solving ideas. You will also analyze a successful solution and how to improve an unsuccessful one.
