MB-500: Microsoft Dynamics 365: Finance and Operations Apps Developer is a five-day, intermediate-level course. It is designed for Finance and Operations app developers who translate business requirements into system functionality in D365 FO apps. To get the most out of this course, you must be familiar with the underlying framework of Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations solutions, including the related objects and data structures. In addition, having hands-on experience of Visual Studio and SQL is required.

During this course, you will explore the Dynamics 365 ecosystem, the technical architecture associated with it, and the design/deployment considerations. You will learn how to customize D365FO using Visual Studio, Azure DevOps, and major D365FO software components. You will discover how to apply Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) while designing a solution for D365FO. Plus, you will get hands-on experience of creating forms, tables, extended data types (EDT), and developing and testing codes using X++.

Additionally, you will build your understanding of the related migration tools and technologies, and of migrating data and working on the SysExtension framework. You will develop skills in integrating D365FO with Microsoft Azure, Power Platform services, Microsoft Dataverse, and calling an external web service. You will learn to identify the capabilities and limitations of the reporting tools in D365FO, and explore how to revise data sources and use Power BI for reporting. Plus, you will implement performance tools and LCS Environment Monitoring tools and work on the functionality of Async Sandbox.

Overall, this course will prepare you for taking the Microsoft Dynamics 365: Finance and Operations Apps Developer certification exam (MB-500). To build a base to consider other role-based courses you should also take the MB-300 exam. Entry for the exams is not included. However, you will get a clear overview of the Microsoft certification process. Plus, you will get tips and tricks, testing strategies, practice questions, and valuable information to help you pass the exam successfully.

This course comprises 10 purposely designed modules that take you on a carefully defined learning journey.

It is an instructor-led course which runs to a fixed schedule, with set start and finish dates. It is driven forward by your instructor and features live sessions that are aired at a set time. You will, however, have time to complete certain activities at your own pace outside of the live sessions.
