This mini-course is intended to be a follow-on to the Python for Data Science, AI & Development course. It provides you with the opportunity to demonstrate the basic Python skills you have acquired in that course.

This course is a hands-on project on Python. You will assume the role of a data scientist/data analyst. In this role you will be given a scenario and data to begin your Python project. During this process you will perform specific tasks such as extracting data, web scraping, visualizing data, and creating a dashboard. You will then submit your Python notebook and screenshots for your peers to review and evaluate your work.

To be successful in completing this project, you should have already completed the Python for Data Science, AI & Development course or have equivalent skills for working with Data and Python.

This project comprises two purposely designed modules that take you on a carefully defined learning path. If you are thinking about completing this project separately, it is worth noting that it is part of the IBM Data Science Professional Certificate Program and you may want to consider enrolling for the whole program rather than just enrolling for one course at a time. Also, we recommend that you have already completed the Python for Data Science, AI & Development course.

It is a self-paced project, which means it is not run to a fixed schedule with regard to completing modules or submitting assignments. To give you an idea of how long the project takes to complete, it is anticipated that if you work 3-4 hours per week, you will complete the course in 2 weeks. However, as long as the project is completed before the end date, you can work at your own pace.

The materials for the project will become available as soon as you enroll.

Once you have successfully completed the course, you will earn your IBM Certificate.

As part of our mentoring service you will have access to valuable guidance and support throughout the course. We provide a dedicated discussion space where you can ask questions, chat with your peers, and resolve issues. Depending on the payment plan you have chosen, you may also have access to live classes and webinars, which are an excellent opportunity to discuss problems with your mentor and ask questions. Mentoring services may vary package wise.

You will be able to:
  • Demonstrate your skills working with Python and data.
  • Demonstrate webscraping a specific data set.

  • Individuals who are keen to begin their career in data science.
  • Individuals looking to land their first data science job.
  • Experienced developers seeking to upskill, enhance their data science knowledge, and participate in projects.
  • Completing the Python for Data Science, AI & Development course from IBM is a pre-requisite for this project. Plus, please ensure that before enrolling you have either completed the Python Basics for Data Science course from IBM or have equivalent proficiency in working with Python and data.

    FAQs

Yes, Python is emerging as a data science leader. This is because it is:

Easy to learn:Python has a shorter learning curve than other data science languages like R, and it outperforms the competition by pushing an easy-to-understand syntax.

Scalability:When compared to other languages, Python has established a lead by emerging as a scalable language that is also faster than Matlab and Stata.

Many libraries:The number of data science/data analytics libraries available to users is a significant driver for Python adoption.

Yes, the Python for Data Science Project is entirely online. You do not need to physically attend any classes.

This mini-course will assist you in demonstrating fundamental Python abilities working with data in a practical setting. You will work on a hands-on project in which you will construct a small dashboard in Python.

This course is a requirement for the IBM Data Science Professional Certificate as well as the IBM Data Analytics Professional Certificate, which are both offered by IBM.

Completing the separate Python for Data Science Project course from IBM is a pre-requisite for completing this project. Please ensure that before taking this course you have either completed the Python for Data Science, AI and Development course from IBM or have equivalent proficiency in working with Python and data.

NOTE: This course is not intended to teach you Python and does not have too much instructional content. It is intended that you apply knowledge of Python that you have already gained when completing this project.

The objective of this course is to provide you with hands-on experience in using Python for data science and data analysis.

On completing this Python for Data Science Project course, you will be able to:

    • Create a dashboard that shows key performance indicators from a specific data set.
    • Demonstrate your skills in working with Python and Data.
