AZ-204: Developing solutions for Microsoft Azure is a five-day intermediate-level course for students, developers, and cloud professionals looking to design, build, test, and maintain cloud applications and services on Microsoft Azure.
You will learn how to build a web application on the Azure App Service platform and implement Azure functions. You will build knowledge of how to develop solutions using blob storage and Cosmos exDB storage. You will explore implementing IaaS solutions, user authentication and authorization, secure cloud solutions, and API Management. You will learn how to develop Azure Logic Apps and build applications with event-based and message-based architectures. And you will explore how to instrument their code for telemetry, and then to analyse, troubleshoot and use different caching services to improve the performance of apps.
Overall, this course will prepare you for taking the AZ-204: Developing solutions for Microsoft Azure certification exam. Entry for the exam is not included. However, you will get a clear overview of the Microsoft certification process, plus you will get tips and tricks, testing strategies, practice questions, and useful information to help you pass the exam successfully.
This course comprises 28 purposely designed modules that take you on a carefully defined learning journey.
It is an instructor-led course which runs to a fixed schedule, with set start and finish dates. It is driven forward by your instructor and features live sessions that are aired at a set time. You will, however, have time to complete certain activities at your own pace outside of the live sessions.
The materials for each module are accessible from the start of the course and will remain available for the duration of your enrollment. Methods of learning and assessment will include reading material, hands-on labs, and online exam questions.
As part of our mentoring service you will have access to valuable guidance and support throughout the course. We provide a dedicated discussion space where you can ask questions, chat with your peers, and resolve issues.
Once you have successfully completed the course, you will earn your Certificate of Completion.

- Hands-on experience of Azure IaaS and PaaS solutions, and the Azure Portal.
- Experience writing in an Azure supported language at the intermediate level. (C#, JavaScript, Python, or Java).
- The ability to write code to connect and perform operations on a SQL or NoSQL database product (SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB, Cassandra or similar).
- Experience writing code to handle authentication, authorization, and other security principles at the intermediate level.
- A general understanding of HTML, the HTTP protocol, and REST API interfaces.

Starting June 2021, role-based and specialty certificates will expire after one year not two. Certificates earned before June 2021 will stay valid for two years from the date earned and are eligible for the new renewal process.
Microsoft does retire certifications from time, however, and you may also find exam numbers evolve when Microsoft changes the curriculum substantially for the certification.
The renewal window begins six months before your certificate expires. During this pre-expiry window, you can take a free online assessment at Microsoft Learn and get the certificate extended by one additional year from the current expiration date.
