AZ-040: Automating Administration with PowerShell is a five-day advanced-level course. It's designed for administrators who use PowerShell to automate Windows Server administration, to make scripts for repetitive tasks, and to generate reports.

During this course, you will be introduced to Windows PowerShell, how to configure it, how to find/run commands, and how to use different types of cmdlets for server administration and network configuration. You will explore the pipeline feature and execute tasks such as sorting, filtering, enumeration, and more. You will learn how to use PSProviders and PSDrive adapters to work with storage. You will query management information using Common Information Model (CIM), and you will explore using Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) to access the information available from the operating system, computer hardware, and installed software.

In addition to this, you will work with variables, arrays, and hash tables, and you will run a PowerShell script and resolve errors. You will learn how to create and manage background tasks, schedules jobs, and administer one or more remote computers. You will install and use an Azure PowerShell environment and an Azure Cloud Shell, and you will manage Azure VMs and storage accounts and subscriptions. Through using PowerShell, you will also learn how to manage users, groups, and licenses in Azure AD, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Microsoft Teams.

This course will prepare you for the AZ-040 certification exam. Entry for the exam is not included. However, you will get a clear overview of the Microsoft certification process and tips and tricks, testing strategies, practice questions, and useful information to help you pass the exam.

This course comprises eleven purposely designed modules that take you on a carefully defined learning journey.

It is an instructor-led course which runs to a fixed schedule, with set start and finish dates. It is driven forward by your instructor and features live sessions that are aired at a set time. You will, however, have time to complete certain activities at your own pace outside of the live sessions.

The materials for each module are accessible from the start of the course and will remain available for the duration of your enrollment. Methods of learning and assessment will include reading material, hands-on labs, and online exams questions.
